The Comprehensive Parasitology Test looks for Yeasts, Parasites, and Bacteria
Yeast
Yeasts are unicellular fungi. Some forms of yeasts are present in small numbers in the normal flora of the gastrointestinal tract, female urinary tract and respiratory tract. If they are able to multiply in an uncontrolled way local infections can result and in some individuals are able to break through the gut barrier and are able to enter the bloodstream resulting in symptoms seen in others of the body.

Parasite
Parasites are organisms that live within the intestinal tract, growing and feeding from the nutrients you put into your body.
• Diarrhoea
• Fatigue
• Abdominal pain
• Nausea

• Gas and bloating
• Weight loss
Parasites are much more common in the UK than many realise and are transmitted by insects, pets, uncooked meat, water and in some cases person to person.
Bacteria
Bacteria identified as pathogenic are well-recognised pathogens that have the ability to cause health problems and should be part of the normal gut flora.
These bacteria are part of the normal eco-system of the gut but should be found in small quantities only. If there are allowed to grow and proliferate they can begin to cause some digestive problems.
Friendly, or beneficial bacteria, such as Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria, play an important role in promoting a healthy gut including digestion and absorption. Friendly bacteria will also help prevent an overgrowth of yeast and bacteria.
• Bloating
• Gas
• Constipation
• Diarrhoea
• Heartburn
• Sensitivity to foods in particular sugar
• Cravings for foods in particular sugar
• Tiredness
• Nausea
• Headaches
A lack of friendly bacteria, a diet high in sugar and refined food, alcohol, contaminated food and water, a stressful lifestyle, high antibiotic and steroid use and female contraceptive use.
