What does the Homocysteine Test look for?

The Homocysteine Test uses a very sensitive testing method to measure total plasma homocysteine levels.

What causes elevated homocysteine levels?

• Age – homocysteine levels increase with age
• Smoking
• Alcohol
• Caffeine intake
• Nutrient deficiencies – especially B6, B12 and folic acid
• Genetics – some individuals can be predisposed to increased levels
